Woman shopping for plants at a North Texas spring plant sale in Dallas.

Shopping spring plant sales is an opportunity to fill your garden with plants that are well-suited to our unique North Texas climate while supporting local garden and nature nonprofits. There are fewer plant sales in Dallas/Fort-Worth than in years past due to the pandemic (despite the growing population of gardeners), but here is a round-up of scheduled sales in our area.

Plant Sale Tips: What to know before you go

  • Download plant lists and plan ahead. Many organizations will provide a list of available plants to download and print. If available, plant lists are linked below.
  • Bring your own boxes, wagons, or carrying carts.
  • Reserve a few hours of your schedule in the days after the sale for planting. There is nothing worse than spending money on new plants and then forgetting about them. Make an appointment with yourself to get them planted shortly after purchase.
  • When you get home, Google the plants you bought to teach yourself about their needs. Look up spacing, light, and maintenance requirements.
  • Make labels for your plants using a proper garden marker. Did you know that Sharpie will fade and disappear in the garden? Always use a marker designed for use in the garden when making your plant labels. (The Staedtler marker is fantastic.)
